We are looking for a Plant I&C Engineer with a strong experience in Cryogenics to join our GTD Cadarache team in GTD SI&R¸ The successful candidate will work collaborating with the F4E-CODAC team in the context of Framework Service Contracts. He/she will be responsible for providing I&C technical support in the ITER Cryogenics plant during commissioning.

To note that the working environment and the tasks to be performed offer the opportunity to contribute to the development of a large international project, and to learn from the different plant systems/technologies to be implemented at the ITER plant.

The role includes commissioning activities at ITER for the Cryogenics plant in the short term, but additionally other projects in the mid-long term related to electrical distribution, industrial plant conventional systems and nuclear systems. The successful candidate will be integrated in a growing team of local engineers.

Position activities - short term:

Among other tasks, as part of the I&C Cryogenics commissioning team, he/she will:

  • I&C site support during commissioning: Test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect I&C equipment;
  • Review equipment manuals in order to inspect and troubleshoot equipment, looking for issues and repairing or replacing defective parts as needed;
  • I&C Engineering (hook-ups, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, datasheets…): Review I&C documentation in order to be able to perform the commissioning activities and update the documents creating “As Built” versions.
  • Proactively participate in technical meetings;
  • Dialogue locally with the customer and supplier;
  • Report progress

Position activities - long term:

Among other tasks, as part of the Cadarache I&C Team, he/she will:

  • I&C Commissioning activities;
  • I&C Engineering activities;
  • Review and update I&C documentation from the customer;
  • Software development for PLC and HMI;
  • Proactively participate in technical meetings;
  • Follow up of engineering, construction and commissioning phases;
  • Dialogue locally with the customer;
  • Create detailed work planning;
  • Report progress.

Requirements

Your profile: 

Experienced professional in the commissioning of continuous process control systems, with a strong background in Instrumentation and Control (I&C). Skilled in field instrumentation for maintenance and commissioning, as well as in I&C engineering for industrial plants and complex distributed architectures. Additionally, possesses expertise in Process Safety and compliance with relevant standards.

  • BSc and/or MSc in one or more of the following fields: Electronics, Automation, Control Systems, Instrumentation, Electro-mechanics.
  • Proficient in programming Siemens PLCs (S7-300, S7-400, S7-1500, S7-1200) using Step7 and/or TIA Portal.
  • Skilled in programming languages: CFC & SCL.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, OPC.
  • Experience with HMI systems (WinCC OA or similar).
  • Strong ability to manage planning, coordination, supervision, and reporting.
  • Experience in control systems for nuclear plants.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety norms and standards.
  • Expertise in High Voltage Electrical Power Distribution.
  • Specific experience with IEC 61850 standards.
  • Proficient in working with libraries and object-oriented development.
  • Knowledge of EPICS and CODAC (ITER HMI).
  • Professional English proficiency (B2 level).

Nice to have:

  • French proficiency (B2 level).
  • Experience in cryogenic process control systems.
